What Compels Me to Write
My name is Audrey DiCarlo.
It’s so wonderful to meet YOU – the True you – the YOU you are when you’re brave and free and inspired and unencumbered and supported! I am truly proud of any human that is walking through this life and this, my work, is a space for you to ponder how you relate. It’s a safe haven where you can come to just unwind and let go of your distress. I am to share as honestly as I can. This means I am dedicated to doing whatever it takes to live in my truest form.
Why all this focus on honesty and authenticity? I grew up incredibly sensitive (trust me, I know “everyone” says they’re sensitive these days – that being said, I’ve got substantial examples of my painfully raw way of going through the world 😉 While I do not always enjoy being sensitive, it’s a gift.) I have longed for the deepest understandings possible. I am the type of human who soaks in information, stimulus, feelings, and experiences. My mind is so full of creativity that this is essential for me. I must be filled with inspiration and liveliness in order to stay in rhythm, in harmomy.
So it is that I am taking the plunge in writing my first book. At the current time it appears that I will be going in the direction of writing an autobiography. As an artist, I know that Creativity has a way of bringing it’s energy forth in a way that can alter my initial plans. I try to let Creativity lead the way, too. It’s a dance between the two of us. Elizabeth Gilbert talks of this process in her book Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear. Check that out if you have ever wanted to let the ideas inside of you be manifest in the world but found yourself putting it off until tomorrow or putting yourself down. It’ll challenge that.
As you follow this journey with me, I ask that you do so with an open heart and mind. I humbly ask that before you judge the work, you would give me space to be my own person and not take offense that my opinions, beliefs, and experiences are likely very different from yours. I ask that you celebrate with me along the way when you find yourself relating, too. Please, contact me with your insights, your questions, and anything that you feel compelled to discuss.
I love you deeply and fully and for who you are NOW,
Audrey
